TCS Interview Experience

Ok guys, I am Manikanta from SASTRA University. I do not have the habit of blogging but thought that my interview experience would be great for fellow people. So in my campus there would be dream companies coming in first place and then mass recruiters follow. I was eligible for all the companies and sat for every company that came. This is the first mistake i think. Always have one dream company and strive for it whether it comes to your college or not.


Companies like microsoft(GTSC), kla-tencor, paypal, amazon, zoho, musigma, lister, vembu tech. visited and rejected me. Of course its difficult to handle after getting rejected in these many, especially few which give 6 digit salary makes one few low. But salary is not important and obvious. Think which suits you and give vigorous preparation for them.

After all these TCS visited on 13-09-2013 and gave their pre placement talk. Since i have cgpa>8.5, i am exempted from online aptitude test and have to take only verbal. Although it is elimination round, it hasn't much to do with your strong vocab.They asked only simple question as to frame an email with 10 keywords mentioned. It is important to use the greetings and ending salutation and the subject,to,from and all are to be omitted.

Greetings! It has been wonderful to have such a curious buyer. we .....

Sandra.

After this round 1200+ have been forwarded to next round from 2000+ figure who attempted both aptitude and verbal.This has been carried out in 3 relaxing days and result came out on 15-09-2013. Interviews were on the following day on various slots. I was allotted for 5th batch i.e., 2.30 p.m. on 16-9-2013(Monday).My batch were asked to sit in an auditorium and asked to wait for the call.

 I was confident after attending so many interviews. Do not get nervous if it is the first interview. Confidence is the key. This is not the regular kind of advice but the ultimate mantra. Whatever you say confidently the interviewer is going to accept not because they are dumb but because they know that given appropriate training you are gonna shine. So be it. They called if there are any apple/android app developers. I was the only one who raised hand and said as "Windows phone app developer". They called me to the interview room.

I was asked to wait out for some time and i was then called in.
Me: "Can i get in?"
Them:"yes.Get in. Have a seat."
There are 3 people sitting.A lady(from mobility), a young guy and an old guy(may be from HR).
Them:*Asked for my resume and the others watching me.*
 Introduce yourself.

Me: As expected this already i prepared about tell me about yourself. ***Without preparing this do not go to interview.***

Them: Tell us about your apps and app development.

Me: This is like a piece of cake for me. In between this i spoke as i collect suggestion from my friends for making an app.I assume my friends to be end users.

Them: You said in the resume as you have done a mini project in testing but you are interested in mobility. Contrasting. Elaborate us in that.

Me: I replied them calmly as I did that project as an academic interest and app development is my passion and personal interest.
They seem to be convinced with this confident answers.Remember that CONFIDENCE is the key.

Them: Assume us as your friends and collect suggestions for your new app.

Me: Getting the ideas about app or information about app sir?

Them: Assume that you have an app idea and collect something from us.

Me: Okay. Then i have an idea in recent times. So i would ask you to give me some experiences about it.It is about image editing phone app.

Them: Go ahead.

Them: 

1. How should be the user interface should be for you?explained some interfaces to them.
2. How you want the images to be stored and reviewed? said some techniques.
3. i do not remember them now.
4. i do not remember them now.

Them: Okay.Lets stop it here. That is good but we expected something less technical as you said you will think us as your end users.Your friends might not know about the limitations right.

Me: Okay sir. Thank you for giving me clues for my next app.

There has been some laugh in the room.

Them: Okay Mani.You may leave now.Any doubts?

Me:Asked about mobility labs in TCS. Kindly have some doubts about any researched topic about TCS. No questions about CTC.

Finally results are announced on 17-09-2013 and i am IN. that was  a great experience finally. 965 members are selected out of 1200+.
